Blaine, Washington

Our next three weeks have been spent at a Thousand Trails Park just outside of Blaine, Washington.  I have really enjoyed our time here, but it is a very open and loud park and a lot had to do with not only the 4th of July happening while we were here but also Canada Day, which is like their 4th of July.  We had some doozies next to us that were up until way after midnight drinking and playing their music very loud and then sitting outside and having to talk loud so they could hear each other over their loud music.  It was just 2 people… not a group or anything like that… just two people.  Like I said this campground is pretty close knitted and so they were directly outside our bedroom slide.  Needless to say, we were ecstatic come Monday and they rolled out of here.  During our time here we drove over to see The Peace Arch that is on the border of Blaine and Canada.  Pretty cool area.

We also drove up to Mount Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest.  What a beautiful place that is.  They had just opened the top road so we took advantage of that and went to check it out.  Lots of snow left and of course I LOVE anywhere there’s snow to see, they even had the bathrooms dug out.. thank goodness right.  I got some really pretty pictures to show for it.

We did a lot of exploring Bellingham and Fairhaven… which is really just more of Bellingham.  Absolutely love it.  There is an awesome Tea House that my very nice husband put up with not only once but twice just so I could have some fun.  We shopped the Co-op and went to the Farmer’s Market and had a couple good meals around town.  I really don’t want to leave this area.  I absolutely LOVE it!!!  There is so much here to do and see.  Once we leave this area… we couldn’t get back here soon enough for me.  I think we have a very high “put a pin in it” place for where we’d live when we are done traveling.

Lastly… we went into Canada and drove some of the Sea to Sky Highway.  We stopped at many different points along the way and did some hikes and saw a few waterfalls, a suspension bridge, and train cars left from a derailment back in the 1950’s.  The water there is just gorgeous because it comes off the glaciers.  Beautiful!!!  Enjoyed our time there.
