After leaving Bow… we moved on to Chehalis, Washington but only stayed 3 days. That was our last stop in Washington. I really hate leaving this area and have so enjoyed spending our summer bouncing around different areas and getting to really take in this state. We have really grown to love this area and look forward to seeing it again in the future. Next, we moved on to Cascade Locks, Oregon for 4 days. We stayed at the Ainsworth State Park campground and what a pretty place it was except the sites are very hard to get into. Once we crammed our RV in we decided we’d had enough and went out to dinner at the Thunder Island Brewing and had a great dinner and a flight that ended in us buying yet another Growler and filling it with “Your Turning Violet, Violet” a blueberry wheat ale.
We really tried to pack in a few things on our list before leaving since we’re not sure when we’ll be back in this area again. We had found this little country store last year while in the Hood River area called Apple Valley. They had fresh huckleberries and huckleberry shakes and huckleberry everything. I had bought a jar of huckleberry pie/cobbler filling last year and had to go back this year and get more and saving it for Thanksgiving. I love this place. Then we made it over to the Timberline Lodge. We didn’t realize we were close to it last year and so made sure to go see it this year. We also made sure we went into Portland again an had some awesome ice cream at Salt & Straw… which was so very good and worth the drive. We also had to have lunch one afternoon at Full Sail Brewing and had the coolest flight of all time. Great food and great beer. Lastly… we stopped and got a good look at the Bridge of the Gods. That about wrapped up our 4 days and time to move onward.
