Concrete, Washington

Our last stop was just outside of La Conner, Washington and we only stayed there a week.  We didn’t do a whole lot and mostly just stayed at the campground and Robert got some work done.  I did find another Tea Room and of course Robert being the awesome husband he is… didn’t complain about going with there with me for lunch.  The internet was absolutely horrible at the campground and that was the main reason we were only there for one week.  We actually had to walk over to the lodge near the water to even get a signal to make phone calls… then the day before we were to leave… magically there was 4G and full bars on our phones.  Apparently they opened a new tower.  Wish we would have known that, we might have stayed longer.

Now we have moved on to a TT campground just outside of Concrete, Washington for two weeks.  Not a whole lot to do around here.  We did find a spot with full hook ups and that’s always a plus, but it has no tree cover and the last few days have been in the upper 80’s or low 90’s and looks like that is gonna be the case until we leave Tuesday with a few days in the upper 90’s.

Last weekend we did take a drive over to some more of Mount Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest.  Did some hiking along a beautiful river that had a great suspension bridge.  This was before the temps came up and I couldn’t believe we were out hiking in the middle of July and not passing out from heat exhaustion.

We also took a drive into North Cascades National Park.  What a gorgeous area that is.  The water in the river is breathtaking and Lake Diablo was even better.

We also drove on over to a Winthrop, Washington… a very cute little wild west themed town.  We had lunch and walked around to take in all the buildings and decor of the place and finished with some ice cream and a nice sit in the shade.  Love this little town and would like to go back again to see more.

Before we left the area… we made sure to go take a tour of the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project.  You definitely get more for your money here.  Not only an amazing tour and lots of information, but you get lunch too.  We really enjoyed doing this, even on a hot 99 degree day.
