Our time in Cottonwood was well spent. We drove out in all areas and tried to see as much as possible. Sedona, Arizona was the cutest town but during winter and the great winter temps… everyone was there too. The place was packed and when you have a F350 dually… that cuts down on being able to cram your vehicle in places. I would definitely go back when the tourist season is over to check more of it out… of course that probably mean hot temperatures. Checked out Montezuma Castle National Monument which is set of well-preserved cliff dwellings and Montezuma Well which is a natural limestone sinkhole through which some 1,500,000 gallons of water emerge each day from an underground spring. We also went to see Tuzigoot National Monument that has a preserved 2- to 3-story pueblo ruin on the summit of a limestone and sandstone ridge. Drove to Jerome, Arizona, that was a copper mining town built on Cleopatra Hill, more than 5,000 feet above sea level. Went to the Jerome State Historic Park that is in the former home of the Douglas Mansion. We learned a lot of history about this town and drove through it’s very narrow streets to have a look see. It was getting later in the day when we were there so we didn’t get out and do any venturing but I would certainly love to come back to this area… even stay a night in the hotel. Lots of tourist around. On New Year’s Eve day… we took a ride on the The Verde Canyon Railroad. We had drinks and food while taking in all the beautiful desert views and rock formations.
