Oceano, California

Oceano was an ok week.  We stayed in a very closely packed RV resort.  I love how loosely the term resort is used.  Our neighbors picnic table was basically under bedroom slide.  We did make the best of it though.  One evening we checked out the Downtown San Luis Obispo Farmer’s Market.  What a place that was.  We always love a good Farmer’s Market and this one did not disappoint.  We also bought tickets to tour Point San Luis Lighthouse.  It is the only surviving Prairie Victorian model lighthouse that remains in existence on the West Coast of the United States.  As we left we actually could see wales off in the distance and that was amazing.  We also drove to Solvang, which was so much fun.  Solvang is known for its Danish-style architecture and many wineries.  You really feel immersed in the culture and there are so many shops to visit.  We had an awesome lunch and walked all over.  I bought a magnet of course to go on our magnet board… but debated on buying a Christmas Pickle ornament.  I didn’t and still regret it.  What didn’t I buy the pickle!!!!  The other thing we did that was very interesting was go to the  Monarch Butterfly Grove which is a Eucalyptus tree–filled grove with thousands of monarch butteries in late October through February.  So many Monarch butterflies and we learned a lot also.
