I have been wishy washy about doing a website and I have gone back and forth with it for the past year. I start and then get frustrated and quit and months later come back and try and start it again. I think I have all the components on here now that will keep it easy for me to do what I want and so I am giving it another go. I am playing catch up here, so bare with me. I also can’t stress enough that I am no writer or expert on blogging and I’m sure it will be very obvious. I write like I talk, nothing fancy. I am doing this for ourselves as a place to keep track of all our adventures and for family and friends to see where we are, where we’ve been and what we are up to.
This last year seems to have went by in a flash. We really packed in a lot and put many miles under our belts. Highlights for me personally were…
1. New Orleans: Getting beignets at Cafe du Monde. I absolutely loved this place. There was a man playing his sax just out on the sidewalk and the bustle and hum of all the people talking to their friends about whatever… was just a great setting for me. I could go there every day if I lived there.
2. Carlsbad Caverns: This place was fantastic and frightening all at the same time. We chose to walk down the 752 feet via the caves natural entrance and about half way down I had a mini panic attack. I could just picture the amount of rock over my head and that’s all it took. I wasn’t going to give in though and made it to the bottom. We had lunch in the “cafe”… humidity was high so it was a soggy sandwich and chips… but to say we had lunch 752 feet underground is still cool. It was an amazing experience but was more than happy to take the elevator back to the surface and feel some air on my face.
3. Pike Place Market: Every time I have seen this place on TV I have dreamed to go here. I don’t know why but it hit a cord with me and this was on my bucket list. It did not disappoint. Way bigger than I imagined. This is another place that if I lived close I could go everyday. We had lunch and bought more than we should and I could certainly have bought more.
4. The Pacific Ocean: Absolutely gorgeous! My first time seeing the Pacific Ocean was while we were at Ocean City Campground. There was a trail at the back of the campground that led right out to the beach. It just felt powerful. I was in awe.
5. The Golden Gate Bridge: As we drove toward the bridge and it started to come into view… it was breathtaking. I felt very emotional and have no clue why. What a beauty this is. It’s like you know these things are out there… but seeing them in person is something totally different and there are feelings.
These were my big favorites…. now that doesn’t mean every other place we visited wasn’t amazing… these were just my big list items…. my “oh yea” moments.
Below are albums from things we did at each place we visited. Until next time…..
