Our next stop for a week was at Horse Creek Campground just outside of Lemon Cove. This was a nice quiet place but the sites were either way too small or a pain to get in. None were even close to being level and so this made for an interesting week with one side up on blocks and the back jacks all the way down. This is an interesting campground because it’s only a campground for part of the year. It’s on a lake and come spring and summer when the snow on the mountains start to melt, the lake fills up and the campground is under water. I find this crazy and fascinating at the same time. We had a hawk nest in a tree just outside our front door and were able to watch it soar around and bring back sticks for the nest. During our week here we drove up to Sequoia National Park one day and Kings Canyon National Park the next day. There had been snow fall so we had to buy snow chains or you couldn’t get in the park, luckily there were for either purchase or rent in a little town just outside the park… how convenient is that I ask… lol. There were areas in both parks that weren’t open due to the snow and also just closed during winter months. We still got to see a lot and and that just gives us a reason to come back in a different season.
