We stayed 2 weeks in Phoenix, Arizona. I don’t think I would EVER live in the desert, but if I were going to… the Phoenix area would be my choice. The area is a very clean and the landscaping detailing is just awesome. Our youngest son and his girlfriend came to visit us for a few days while there and we tried to pack in all the adventure we could. We went to Casa Grande Ruins Nation Monument which is a preserved structure of the Ancient Pueblo Peoples. While in this area, we also went to check out The Domes of Casa Grande. The Domes were built to facilitate the manufacturing of computers back in the late 70’s and early 80’s but was never completed. Needless to say they have gone downhill over the years. The fence was drooped almost touching the ground and the no trespassing signs were painted over so I took this as an invitation to go get some pictures. I love old abandoned places and glad we got to see these because one dome has partially fallen and the city has ordered their destruction. We climbed up to Hole in the Rock that is a natural geological formation in Papago Park in Tempe, Arizona. We drove over to Glendale for the downtown Glendale Glitters holiday light spectacular and wondered through some antique shops. We saw Brian Setzer Orchestra on their Christmas tour. Explored the Pioneer Living History Museum which has 30 historic original and reconstructed buildings from the 1880s and early 1900s on its 90-acre property. We also went to Las Noches de las Luminarias at the Desert Botanical Gardens. There were over 8,000 hand lit luminaria bags and thousands of white twinkle lights throughout the gardens. Also there were 10 different areas that had different musical ensembles playing lovely music. Strolled around with some hot chocolate and enjoyed. Of course we went to see the new Star Wars movie and noshed on plenty of good food around town.
